Why Yellowwoods?
Christian Values and Quality Education
- Yellowwoods is formally registered with Umalusi and has been given an excellent evaluation report from IQAA( Independent Quality Assurance Agency)
- We are proud to be affiliated members of I.S.A.S.A.( Independent Schools Association of South Africa) ISASA’s mission statement depicts Quality, Values and Diversity.
- The school is set in a perfect countryside of fields, trees, dams, wildlife, farms and fountains where our pupils are privileged to be able to enjoy a broad, holistic education, in a relaxed and aesthetic environment.
- Teachers are able to take their classroom ‘outside’ which certainly enhances learning and instills a deep and spiritual appreciation for the environment.
- Camaraderie and spirit between the pupils, teachers and parents is consistently heartwarming and supportive.
- A nutritious lunch is served daily to the entire school before sport and prep sessions.
- Reliable and safe transport is provided from Adelaide, Alice and Fort Beaufort.
- Yellowwoods has excellent facilities. Two new classrooms were built in 2009 and our garage was converted into a classroom in 2011.
- The average pupil-teacher ratio is 12:1. This allows for the teachers to focus on the individual, cater for specific needs and enrich top students in all the classes.
- The classrooms are bright, comfortable, spacious and overflowing with high quality and excellent teaching aids including projectors and interactive whiteboards.
- Each year the pupils participate in various Olympiads, such as Conquesta and we are proud of the excellent results achieved at Yellowwoods. Our overall Conquesta rating in 2009 was 71% – 12% above the national average.
- We were placed in the top 20 internationally in our Computer Literacy results.
- We celebrate the diversity of our students from varied cultural backgrounds.
- Discipline: Yellowwoods is well-known and highly respected for its consistent, positive and highly-effective structure of discipline. Whilst practicing ‘zero tolerance’ of unacceptable behaviour, we encourage and teach kindness, respect, good manners and self-discipline. Independent schools are allowed – and required, to expel a child if deemed necessary. On enrolment, every child/parent/guardian formally commit themselves to our Code of Conduct (specifically recommended by the Independent Schools Association of South Africa).
- Our administration department is always helpful and willing to provide you with any necessary information.
