Term 2 has started with great excitement. We have moved into a new classroom and have welcomed the little nursery friends. It is wonderful having them in the classroom next door and on the playground. It has been amazing to see how well these age groups have socially integrated.
‘Around the World’ is one of our favourite themes every year. We have started with various countries around the continent and will end this term with our beloved South Africa. There are so many different cultures, and the children enjoy participating and learning about our amazing world. Our first week we dedicated to the United States of America. The children just blew me away with their artistic abilities and enthusiasm. We were able to talk about the US flag, Apple products, yummy apple pies (courtesy of George Miles), the Statue of Liberty, and Native American Indians.
We have fun learning, tasting, singing, and sharing about countries. The children have been learning about numbers 7 and 8, and the letter ’ í.’. We had time to squeeze in terrific Mother’s Day gifts for the true heroes of the Pre-primary. This class is a treasure and has amazing stamina and determination. There is a quote by Shane DeRolf: “We are a box of crayons each of us unique, but when we get together the picture is complete.”
